This is from TED Person speech. There's this quote by activist and punk rock musician Jello Biafra that I liked He says, "Don't hate the media. Be the media." I'm an artist. In the fog of war, civilian casualties often go uncounted. Artist Matt Kenyon, whose recent work memorialized the names and stories of US soldiers killed in the Iraq war, decided he should create a companion monument, to the Iraqi civilians caught in the war's crossfire. Learn how he built a secret monument to place these names in the official record. So, now this days we watch media a lot and news but do we really see everything going the world ( right) , Does all news and another Documentary , we saw is right or ( truth), Is there bias in media? WHAT DO YOU THINK? This is TED world ideas www.ted.com/talks/matt_kenyon_how_i_snuck_a_memorial_for_iraqi_civilians_into_the_us_government?language=en

I think that's a good statement. The media presents us with images of what they think the muncooles want to see. In that way, we should try to "be the media." If we become change, people will see that and try to cater to the changes. This sounds unlikely but even with the food industry, as people start to care about organic foods more, big stores like Walmart start to supply their stores with more organic food. In other words, we have to be the change we want to see.

I agree with Julia's idea, if we want to change the world, the first thing got to do is changing ourselves. What the world gives us is what we want from it. Same thing on media, media shows us what we want to see. People might blame the media because it gives us bad influence to us sometimes, by showing inappropriate things, but when you think it to yourself, that is what we asked for, as long as the media shows those stuff, we watch it. Why can't we stop watching it if we don't like it? Most of the time it is our fault that we try to blame it on others.

I also agree with julia. Media made us to think in certain way. In other words, if media got biased, it is easy for us to also get biased perspective toward that article. It is important for us to do self control I think. When we are able to control ourselves and try to have a unbiased perspective, the news article from media might be seen different. We learned about media manipulation few days ago so we shouldn't be manipulated from media by using the methods what we learned:)

It is true that media represent us and we should be the "good" media. Media can be powerful tool if we use it in a proper way. For example, facebook plays a huge role in society. Recently, Korean kid, who was disappeared for three days, was found due to the media called facebook. A kid's brother shared the information about the kid and people started to like the page. Due to huge number of likes, people found the kid within a week. Media can be serve as a powerful tool. It depends on how we are going to use the media.

Of course there is bias in the media. We're taught by the media to feel / think a certain way about some subjects. Take for example, North Korea. South Korea media continuously talks about North Korea testing weapons, declaring war, etc. Rarely, do you ever see in the news about North Korean "good" lifestyle. We're basically being told that North Korea is a horrible country, and we don't think about their side. This reminds me of Advanced Writing cla,ss where perspectives matter. Having only one perspective gives you a biased view while looking at something from multiple perspectives gives you a more complete, unbiased view.

I think the media is not a right things to trust because this days, we can find right information by reading or looking other resources. For example, we have big issues with North Korea weapon tests. We were not sure each weapon was tested and news said, 'They don't know each weapon was tested.' How can we trust the media, even they don't have proper information, so we search many information through Google or Naver. We see many other information in Google. From the information, we see each one is right or wrong. I think it is right to see many other information and determines each ones are right to trust or not.

It's true that most media has a bias to some extent. It's easy to be influenced but becomes difficult when it comes to influencing others through the media. I agree with the quote and the purpose of it although I'm not quite sure how it relates to the link you provided. I can see how "being the media" can really bring about change in the way we see and interact with the media.

I really liked the TED video, I watched and got inspired by the brilliant idea. As he mentioned in his TED talk, the quote from famous artist and punk rock musician, "Don't hate the media, be the media." I think this means to put our thoughts and perspectives about the media into the media. Using the media to influence others is easier than you think. Media is vulnerable to all sorts of different artists, activists, students, scientists, everybody. We can take advantage of the media to influence others and trigger their imagination, their perspective, and their emotions to become the media too.

There are many twists and turns in media. If we are not able to identify these tricks, we are merely a part of the "bewildered herd". The bewildered herd is a group of people that believe everything that is presented in media. We should be able to take in information from media and filter the good from the bad and form our own opinions on a matter. Also, not everything is presented in media. There are certain stories and areas of the world that are left out from media. It may be due to personal boundaries or even political issues. It is our decision on what media we take favor to and how we perceive it.

As Mayurika said, If we are not able to figure out if a news on media is true or not, we're just people who believes whatever is presented on the Media. If we don't want to be manipulated then we should stand up to our own opinions and not to be too one sided. For example, there was a guy that got really famous in Korea who was searching for his family and received millions likes in a week. At first, everyone was cheering him to find his family but later people found out that he is a heavy drinker who abused his family so long that the family fled to Korea without telling him.
