I think it's hard to define who is the sane or insame character because everyone was acting crazy and immoral. I think the only difference was how they expresses their madness.

When I was in c.luncool I wondered the same thing as you! I was confused with the term "crazy" because whenever we said Ophelia was crazy, I couldn't determine the word right away. For me, I thought most of the characters in Hamlet had mental disorders and thought they were all crazy. So why only Ophelia as the crazy one? Perhaps, the story make it seem like Hamlet is fair to be crazy and mad since he's father got murdered. The character showed the eagerness to revenge (murder) Claudius and there it showed madness. I personally think they're both showing big characteristic of madness. They are just showing a difference degree of madness. Also, they have different reasons why they became so mad which will differ as well. I think Ophelia was shown at least more crazy because she has lost her virginity and as a woman back then, it was a big thing which determined their life. For Hamlet, he may have lost his father but he still has his power and reputation just like before.
