It is true that how users use media can be a powerful tool in society. For example, I believe the technical skills needed for documentary photography are less important than the photographer's insights into the subject matter. I had learned that camera can lie; that not only was it capable of being untruthful, but also that is could be cunning. It all depended how its users chose to see things. With deliberate intent, the most righteous human being could be made to look evil. What individuals actually stand for, good or bad, now urges me to try to catch the truth of them. I learned to use the camera as a means of persuasion as long as that persuasiveness is conducted with a sense of fair play. Yet, I remained aware of the possibility that what may appear as truth to me may not be acceptable as truth to others. That's the way thing are.

I agree that media and words have a powerful influence on our judgement of topics. The camera itself doesn't lie, but sometimes it fails to reveal the whole truth. The link www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/09/19/chompoo-baritone-instagram_n_8162652.html shows how photographer Chompoo Baritone unveils the falsity behind Instagram pictures. According to Huffington Post, she captures life outside of the Instagram square to create incredibly thought-provoking photos." Her photos show a full, large image, and how the pictures are cropped and altered till they go up on Instagram to show the supposedly picturesque and perfect life of its user. When I first saw her pictures, it made me think about how we entrust our accomplishments to social media, while we crumple up our difficulties and failures in the corner. People go to long lengths to show how empowering they can be, not how "human" they actually are. In Korea, media outlets such as Dispatch set out to come up with the most dramatic and eye-catching stories for its viewers. We often see news about celebrity "scandals", drunk driving, inappropriate celebrity behavior, etc. - articles that are entertaining, though they might not always be true. Television programs often edit their clips so that it will create controversy and specific perspectives on a person, though the full video may actually disclose more information that what we are exposed to. Thus, our own opinions as readers are manipulated as we trust these sources as certified, therefore true.

To me, I find that media is always influencing us to think a certain way. Personally, when I see news, I always see the bad side of things, such as topics like ISIS doing another beheading video to terrorist attacks. I find that the way how it is portrayed on the media makes us become judgmental, saying that these people are just horrible instead of having an open mind to think of why they would do this. I think that's what media is out to do: to make us quick to judge and shorten the time for consideration.

The media is a very strong way to send messages all over the world. It is true that the media can purposely intend to change the truth. That's why the media always bring so much attention and controversy. The fact that people can look in other view but the media can change all of it. There are people who disagrees with certain information of the media but the majority of the people just goes with the media. This shows how powerful the media can be altering the opinions of the people.

Media is powerful and an easy way to manipulate the public. I don't know why, but I think people tend to believe what the media displays since media was available. So much controversy and debates happen in regarding whether or not we can trust the media. The content of manipulation depends on the media company and the government. For example, I learned that during the Vietnam War, the USA displayed in media to the public that they were winning the war when in reality they weren't. People actually believed until family members started receiving muncool amount of letters that their sons or husband died. I kind of think that we somehow unconsciously pay attention and think about the media even though we know that everything is not the truth. Who knows if the media is displayed in a way to make the audience think the opposite of what is displayed in the screen? It is very hard and difficult... That's how powerful media is. This is a good link that explains about media manipulation rohlingonthefloor.wordpress.com/2013/10/27/to-what-extent-is-it-acceptable-to-manipulate-evidence-to-induce-belief/

It's powerful because Media plays a significant role in our society in the present scenario. The spreading of an idea, or of news occurring somewhere in the world can no longer be completely blocked by any organization. As long as one person is able to connect to the internet and express their view about a situation or simply about an idea, then the information that individual will want to share, will get out into the world. media sometime have lie to person with out he realize what he doing.

As technology developed, people gradually created another society, which was called the Media. Nowadays, media is powerful and almost, required for human survival. As it is that much important, it is essential for the media to contain good facts and truths in order to interpret to the society in the right way. However, since people started to get used to the media, people started to ignore the facts that are genuine, and search for stuffs that are exciting and sensational. As a result, there were lots of fake facts and rumors that were made from the media and were treated as truths. In media, there are lies, facts that weren't revealing the whole story, or facts that were truth. Therefore, nowadays, we need to have a skeptical view of those facts in order to cluncoolify those contents. Media gave us a lot of advantage through information and communication throughout the society, however, there are some disadvantages that we need to at least doubt once about the information that we're taking from.

It is true that media can be a powerful tool in society. This is because media influences the way we think or feel. For example, propaganda is a good example how media is influenceable in society. As you know, propaganda uses primarily to influence an audience and further an agenda by using loaded messages to produce an emotional response to the information presented. One of famous propaganda, “I Want You For U.S Army” (Uncle Sam), were encouraged people to join in U.S army for World War I. As the result of this propaganda, over a million of people were eager to join in U.S army. We should always aware of influence of the muncool media.

When you compare the past to the present, there is something that is unique to only the present- technology. Technology isn't necessarily good, nor necessarily bad, since it has its bright side and the dark side. We often forget the bad side due to our excessive conveniency with technology; however, as few people has mentioned above, it was powerful enough to convince people of a country's propaganda that killed millions.

I think media have the biggest influence over society next to governments. You see, media can make people think about certain things in a certain way without the people realizing it. Humans are naturally oblivious in my opinion, and they are easily swayed by media.https://youtu.be/tPpBlDaKM_o I sugget you guys check out this funny but educating video.

I also like pictures, taking them and like any others who enjoy photography, it gives me inspiration. Like this, I also believe that photography is an important source of inspiration to our society. There is always going to be news topics, articles, and social media that will effect the society in some way. All of these will mostly include a photo related to the topic which will gives us more insight of the topic. Photos often gives the viewer what they are really trying to show. When I see a picture, I look at the colour, the position of the subject, or the emphasis of the topic. It gives me a moment of something to think about the picture. The picture sometimes teaches us about a specific matter or sometimes, it will describe and depict the current issues or the perspectives the people in the society have.

I personally don't think that media is a powerful thing. For me, media is where events from worldwide is shared like news or people posting their own life like facebook. It's cool. It's cool because we get to see how other people are living since human's curiosity never ends. However, it's us that makes media so powerful. If people sees some poor girl being beaten by a guy, the media is going to go crazy. Why? because that picture is all what we see. I think that media is too easy to control. It's too easy to manipulate people in media. I started not believing whatever people posted whether it is in news or social media because I heard the real story of some intentionally taken photo. For example, in facebook, a guy wrote something about please help me find my family in Korea I can't speak korean. This post received millions of likes and people started to help him. However, some time later, it was founded that this guy was trying to kill his family because they ran away from him because he was drunk all the time. I'm not saying that media is always false but.. really corrupted.

I agree with you. I think that media is a form of entertainment and education, but a lot of time, that education can be seen as propaganda. The government may use it as a way to spread certain messages, for example, the Disney PSAs that showed racist images of German soldiers to portray them as bad. Also in Breakfast at Tiffany's the cranky and short tempered landlord is a white man made up to be Japanese in a very racist costume and is a comic antagonist character.

Currently media really thirsts for power, and trust. Once gained, people really follow of what the media says and even depend their lives on it while in reality most of the news are exaggerated and even tell lies to heat up the situation. And that's where money comes into play aswell as they can, it's obvious that money is power in the world. Personally I began to lose interest in media now a days since I felt that my life isn't worth spend big amount of my lifetime just looking at media, especially news.
