Where is animal protection laws? This days, many animals are been abused in many ways. Some cats are dead by stepping on them with hills on ladies feet. The other case is one woman gave makgeolli to her dogs. They are starving in death because they didn't eat for a week. They forced to drink all of them. Later, one dog was starting to throw up and he had to face the death. The lady uploaded this video into her SNS and she shared with her friends. She didn't felt any guilty with her actions toward the dogs. What is right punishment for her? How can she do that to her dog? I was watching television with my sisters and this television programs gave me a shock. The video will show a similar situation that happened in Korea. The video dog was rescued from people, but the dog I saw in television was faced death and served as a food. wqad.com/2013/12/05/video-shows-puppy-being-dragged-behind-motorized-scooter/I want you guys to watch this video and I want to share how we can protect animals from ridiculous human activities.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Now I remember why I installed a proxy to my browser. ...Wait, how are you watching that?
Honestly, this seems to be the extreme end of humanity, and one rule (especially in the internet) is to never judge anything by their extremes (it's about as bad as judging Germany only by Hitler, and to anyone who watches the videos, stay away from the comments). Then again, I can't actually understand what the video is saying, so I might be missing a few details that Korean speakers will pick up on, such as what the culprit says to the dog in the footage, so I can't tell what his motives are.
I don't know how to protect and prevent animals from things like this, since preventing crime against humans is easier since humans can defend themselves better than animals, so the only thing I can think of is to make bigger punishments so they'll be discouraged from doing this.

I can't take it seriously. As a human who has puppy home, I really think this is totally unacceptable. I can watch people murdering people but I just can't watch people killing animals. Do they think this is right to abuse animals and upload the video showing how curl they are on internet? What is the purpose of uploading videos? Why do they want people's attentions so much? Don't they feel guilty as human being when they are abusing them and watching them suffer? They are monsters.
The man in the video who is dragging the dog says he is not a monster. If he is not a monster, how can he abuse that innocent puppy? It just make animal lovers, even normal people angry.
I really do think the animal protection law should be changed for the animals. Not only in Korea, the animal protection law should spread world wide.

I honestly don't understand why animal protection laws are not a serious matter in Korea. Of course there are laws in Korea that protects animals from animal abuse but is being ignored many times. www.law.go.kr/lsEfInfoP.do?lsiSeq=167394# - Animal protection law Korea In facebook, I often see many dead or abused animals pictures. The one who posted says BSs like one like one prey for this poor kitty/puppy. This is one of the reason why I don't often do facebook now days. Even animals are being abused very often, Korean Government gives no crap about it. Why? their only concern is money.

The punishment for those who abuse their animals is going to jail. Some people might have had a hard time and have mental stress so they abuse their animals. I don't get why the guy dragged his dog on his motorcycle. A dog did nothing to you and just loves you but he abused his dog. I get why people would fight with themselves because humans are evil but dogs are really nice and adorable. Animals should not be abused and those who abuse them should go to jail for 10 years.

I agree with Susan, as a dog lover, i couldn't even watch that video, i think the reason that animal laws are not that strict as human laws is because people believe that human lives are important than animal lives. In our society we have this hierarchy in animals, where humans are the highest, and we get higher facilities than them. But the thing is we all animals, and it is just human brain is more improved than other brains. In the case of animal laws, is that there is nobody to talk about them, animals obviously cannot talk about their laws, so they become a minority in the society. And we humans only care about ourselves and not the animals. They also have a valuable life, and they should also deserve equal rights as we do. I also like the idea, where most of the koreans takes care of their pet dogs as toddlers, it is something that we should appreciate instead of thinking that they are just stupid, and should have human babies. I really don't know much about the korean government's laws for animal protection, but i'm talking this as a whole world, if people cannot take care of their dogs, just please hand them over to an animal care center, it is something that you could do to help to save a life. And i really appreciate Heesue for bringing up this topic, where nobody really gives a crap about animals.

YES, agree that there should be stronger law that protect animals in South Korea. Not only there have been many cases of serious animal abuse, but also pet abandonment. After the pets are abandoned, what awaits the pet is cold wilderness of city. They often starve to death or in poor health condition. Sometimes these pets are picked up by an organization for protection and to help them find new homes. However, because there are SO MANY pets being abandoned, many are euthanized.

To protect the animal right in south korea, I think we need government's effort. If government make a rule of limiting the animal use such as jailing or making as a food supply, then, animals might be able to get more protection and have a right properly. Also, since government is the most powerful agent in out coumtry, people might get lots of influences by government people.

I agree that we should have a stronger law that protects animals. Animal abuse, abandonment, and people's apathy is becoming a problem in this country. I feel like there are so many limitation in today's law in regarding punishment and the line of violating the law. People take animals for granted because of their selfish desires. The government should enforce a strict and clear law regarding animal rights. Also, if people can stop showing apathy towards animals, then the community and situation of animal abuse might improve.

This video gave me the creeps. It was absolutely horrifying to see another human being doing such cruelty to an innocent animal. I strongly support the fact that we need to establish new laws so we can protect the animals. But I feel like we don't need laws that deal with animals but with the owners that hurt them. Furthermore, I think that we need laws more than putting these people to trial; perhaps a law that could prohibit them from owning any other animal after they are put to trial or something to prevent these incidents. I personally think these people should be punished in the same way as what they did to their animals but it would be inhumane and immoral. But again, we should prevent these incidents by creating new laws and enforcing animal protection laws.

In Korea, animal abuse is very commonly happen, however, animal protection laws and punishments are still very weak. People upload animal abuse video in Facebook and social network because they just want to have people’s attention. They never feel any guilty toward animals. Or may be they just want to show their anger to animals that can not speak.

I agree that there should be a stronger law that protects animals in South Korea. People think animals are just objects. As mentioned, people cause a serious animal abuse and people abandon those animals in the street. I also saw the news article from media and I was shocked. Animals that are abandoned usually starve to death or are sent to slaughterhouse, waiting and watching other dogs getting killed for food. Even though I do not really like dogs, I feel sympathy for animals. This is not whether you like animals, it is being too cruel and these type of actions are not allowed or not even possible for humans to perform in real life.

I think that humans choose to treat animals so merely for the fact that as a different species, they aren't human. We are technically animals, so why do we only care that all humans should be treated the same, not that all animals should be treated the same? The human race is merely a specific part of the kingdom Animalia, so why does this small portion get to be treated than those in another genus (but still within the same kingdom)? I may seem hypocritical, for I am a meat lover myself, but I disagree with the methods of how I get the meat that I eat. Previous videos that I saw online really opened me to how that samgyeopsal on my plate got there from a farm, and I wish that people could really figure out a compromise between animals and humans.
This differing treatment between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom reminds me the views of white in the 18th century of their black counterparts. Those who raised slaves in the south - and actually many others as well in the north - saw the colored people as a different species. In the laws for determining the population of a state, it was even agreed that black slaves would be considered as 3/5 of a person instead of one person, in order to lessen their influence in the population. So, my question is: why do humans (or any specific group of people) have the need to feel more valued and better treated in their ecosystem?

I think the standard of the animal rights in Korea are really low and that is why there are many incidents happening like this in the country. Because there's not as much people who have pets in Korea as people in the States, I feel there's lack of sympathy for the animals. Animals do have a lower standard of rights than humans. However, it's still a living organism who has feelings. As animals are harmonized with nature, when we harm the animals it's just like harming the nature as well. I don't have any pets but just as a human being, it's obvious I'm going to stand up for animals when they get abused or abandoned by humans. Animals should be protected and beloved by humans. They may have a lower rights than human in the society, however, they have the same rights to be protected and survival living in the nature just as us, humans.
