The answer may just be "oh, it's because of their twisted view of their religion", but I think there is more to than that.
First of all, the people leading ISIS probably knows either consciously or unconsciously know that it would be impossible for them to take all over northern Africa an southern Europe like the Roman Empire or something. They probably want something else for aggravating one of the most powerful countries in the world. Maybe they are just one muncoolive group of attention hungry fools? Maybe they just want to be heroic in front of their people. Maybe they just want to "watch the world burn", like Alfred said in the Dark Knight. Or perhaps its maybe really just religion.
What do you guys think?

I think I mentioned this somewhere else before (or someone else did), but I'm guessing to become the most powerful group in the world under the pretense of trying to turn Islam into the most powerful religion in the world. They're doing really well in terms of instilling fear, and if they can gather enough strength to live up to that fear... we're gonna have a bad time. Not to mention that they can use religion as a shield if anyone decides to attack them, and since quite a few people in the world are Muslim, they can score some sympathy when necessary. Of course, doing this gives Islam a bad reputation, but I doubt they care if they're going this far while using Islam as their banner.

www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/22/syria-iraq-incubators-isis-jihadThis is how they all started about. Its pretty clear why ISIL terrorizes. It's to spread their ideas just like how al-Qaeda and their deceased leader Osama Bin Laden tried to do. The only difference is that ISIL has way more followers and control then al-Qaeda. They are more unified under the name of Islam (extremists) and due to the situation that happened in Syria. They aren't acting like this and booming countries just to get attention from the people because they do have a purpose but the way they are trying to spread their idea is just wrong.

I agree with Jonathan. They are expressing their idea in an immoral way. I feel like the ISIL are extreme religious group where they strictly and literally follow the words. It is sad how Islam is getting a bad reputation because of ISIL. I do not know if people who follow ISIL know that their action will only bring hatred and vengeance upon them. Their idea wouldn't go through because their way of spreading their ideas are unacceptable.

In my opinion, no offense, but most of the time terrorists attacks are mostly based on the religion. ISIL is a group where they just trying to distribute their religion, and i read this article saying that their main purpose is to have their religion world's only religion, so no other religions... But the thing is probably this doesn't really think of the after effects on this, they are killing millions of innocent people doesn't matter of what religion they are. they are even killing muslims, which is directly ruining their religion too. Either way what they do is not acceptable.

I think they express their idea in violent ways. They are attacking others because they think our actions are immoral. I had a little discussion with Ms. Boy about this issues. She told me that why people scare about them. She told me that what's the difference between school shooting and killing other innocent people. Her answer gave me lots of thinks and answers. I think there is no difference with shooting issues in America and IS terror. We can't stop them because they are already have pride to their actions and have beliefs that their actions are right. I think their doing this to make world change to their ways. Due to so much pride, they want to rule the world I think. There are actions are not just from negative views about other. We have more educations compare to them, so we have more right judge of others and them. They don't have good knowledge to determine their actions and reflecting themselves.
