In Act3, Hamlet says that Horatio is really good friend and it is so blesses for him to meet Horatio. And during this talk, hamlet says that he is no falttering to horatio and just telling what he usually thinks of horatio and how thankful to horatio. It was very rare occasion that prince thinks lower cluncool person as real friend in that time period. I was curious about that why only hamlet can think horatio as good friend? Can't horatio thinks hamlet as real friend instead of title of prince? Is that going to be sounds like fattering? What do you guys think of this relationship?

I feel that Horatio is a good friend of Hamlet's. In my opinion, Horatio sees him at a real friend but has to go with the title of Prince because of the society then. I feel that Horatio is just going with society: giving respect to those above, and so on. After all, Horatio is Hamlet's FOIL. The differences between the two must be there in order to bring emphasis to Hamlet.

In the old days, people had to call their friends according to their position. So Hamlet had to call Hamlet as a prince. Yet, Horatio seems like a good friend to Hamlet because he was a good supporter no matter what. It is one of those relationships in the play to stir up a 'bright' feeling and to emphasize other characters.

I think that Horatio and Hamlet have a good relationship in that Horatio is one of the very few who Hamlet's actually trusts. I do feel like their friendship is one-sided because it's always Hamlet reaching out to Horatio. Also, Horatio is literally Hamlet's servant, providing emotional support and loyalty at all times. Their relationship seems more like a servitude.

Horatio is like Hamlet's right hand man. He cares of hamlet and tells him everything. Even though Hamlet is a price he really trust his friend, Horatio. But maybe Horatio is just giving respect to hamlet because he is a king. I like this relationship because Horatio cares for Hamlet and obey his order. I think there need to be Horatio in the play so there can be a hamlet's supporter.

OH, interesting thought. I think it would be hard to overcome the reality of their status though. In those days, no matter how strong you felt for someone, as a friend, as a lover, society had strict expectations for what responsibilities certain people held. And I guess, Horatio's role would be to be a good guard/advisor/officer. Even if he and Hamlet were close friends, it's kind of like what Laertes said to Ophelia about Hamlet's fate being in the hands of his country. Hamlet's duty is to put his country first, in times of trouble nothing is more important than that.

I think Hamlet is just an unreliable narrator in general. He likes Horatio and they are friends, but he is also someone who has trouble trusting other people no matter how close they are. For example, he was so ready to put Rosencrantz and Guildenstern on that ship to England when they had been friends since they were young just because he suspected them.

It is quite hard to say if Hamlet and Horatio are in a good relationship. I think their relationship is at least better than Rosencrantz and Guildenstern because Horatio does not really betray Hamlet. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were manipulated by royal family: Claudius and Gertrude. Moreover, in the last scene, Hamlet asks Horatio not to commit suicide, but also to spread his tragic story to others. At this moment, it seems Hamlet and Horatio were having a good relationship.

For monologue that I did was in act three -and scenes three it was about the friendship. Between Hamlet and Horatio. So Horatio was so best find of Hamlet because he show him loyalty. So Hamlet during this monologue expresses himself and his emotion to Horatio, And also Hamlet was so honest with his feeling expression to his friends. He tells him do not think I flattered.
