I was checking Ms. Boyd's website the other day, and I saw that the past seniors did Frankenstein as their fourth quarter gig. I asked Ms. Boyd if we were going to do Frankenstein too, and I remember her saying that we didn't have enough time to do it. So I guess we are not going to do Frankenstein.
But Frankenstein is one of the most famous Gothic literature that have ever existed. So let's talk about Gothic literature. One of my personal favorite was Dracula. It was gory, bloody, scary, and a heck of a lot of fun, considering it a "boring" cluncoolic novel. Out of modern books, loved Coraline, which is a creepy book about a girl who goes into a differentworld and finds a mother with buttons for eyes. The movie was pretty fun too, and I loved the dark atmosphere. I guess you can also consider Batman stories to be Gothic (Gotham haha), and I am a big fan of that too...
What about you guys? Do you have personal favorites?

I was about to say Dracula as well!! I was actually considering between 'The Vampyre, A Tale' but Dracula had a deeper impression to me. The vampire is the metaphor for the pollution of English blood and the hunt symbolizes the corruption. But also, the story handles purity and the sacred of the women. This gothic literature held both a very holy and bloody story which was a bit ironic but it was pretty fun compared to the other gothic literatures for me. The story was published during the 19th century and I never got a chance to read the old gothic literatures before I fell in to this book. My favorite gothic literature was Dracula same as ya!!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is my favorite!!. I've only watched parts of it as a musical, but those parts were enough to mesmerize me! The themes of duality of human nature and the internal struggle between good and evil were both very interesting. I'll share more information about this story through my final presentation !

Frankenstien has always been in my mind. I read it some years before I think. Maybe it was high school or not but it was a great story to read. I fell very interested when the main character uses old body parts to create this freaking huge zombies. I never liked zombies because they are very freaky. However, this zombie is very special its green (in my mind) and made out of old body parts. I was fascinated by it and had really good time reading it.

The Cask of Amontillado is probably my favorite. I prefer to see characters triumph not by brute force, but by clever planning and strategy (not saying brute force is boring though). It's just fun seeing the main character lead Fortunato on a string while he doesn't notice until it was way too late. If that kind of mastermind was tasked into killing another person, what plan would he think of next? Then again, he made the plan because he was angry, so maybe I'm just interested in revenge plots.

I feel like, in today's society we have a lot of supernatural creatures featured movies and tv shows. I don't know if you consider those as gothic, but since dracula is one of them, i think we can consider them as gothic. So my favorite is the originals, where it is based on a family of vampires which is really interesting because they fight in different ways to defeat their enemies.

My favorite is probably The Fall of the House of Usher, since it's setting, mood and it's themes are pretty eerie and mysterious. Even though it's kinda of mind boggling, but it's pretty cool that they reference it in other media, such as in movies, and cartoons (especially Scooby Doo)
