Hype is something good and bad at the same time. It's a feeling of expectation, feeling that what you're expecting is good.
I am writing this because I recently watched the much hyped movie Captain America: Civil War. So many people were hyped for it, but I have to admit, it was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't a bad movie or anything, but I thought it wasn't up to my expectations. Something similar happend with Batman V Superman, which was very hyped but turned out to be awful, and I was thoroughly disappointed. There were only very few occasions I wasn't disappointed in some level, and that was The Force Awakens
When we usually when get hyped up for something, we are disappointed. But why do we all get hyped again? Are we just really gullible? Or is it the false sense of hope that satisfies us? What do you think?

Interesting point! I can relate to this feeling! Good question! Why do humans continue to do things that they basically already know won't turn out as great as their expectations or imaginations? Why do humans do things even when experience tells them it's futile? I think it's because as much as we would like to believe that humans are a higher species with self-control and spiritual abilities or something, we are slaves to our desires, we're animals. It's like, why this suffering? Why eat something when you know you'll finish it and you'll be sad that you dont have anything to eat anymore? Why fall in love when heartbreak will most likely occur some time later? Also because we need hope to live. We need excitement from that possibility how ever tiny it may be, that things will be different for once! How interesting! Humans are interesting!

Expectations are just ambition in disguise. People may say that expectations are made because we have hope in something but I think it's more of a drive or something we want really bad. People try to do whatever they can do make their expectations come true. This cannot apply for your example of the movie, because there is nothing much we can do to change a movie. However if we use the example of prom; people are expecting it to be very boring and a waste of time so they spread the idea of not attending prom in order to prove their point.

Personally, I feel that we just hype over something because it's popular / known by everyone. It could be like a reboot / continuation of a series like Star Wars. But I think that hyping over something just worsens our expectations. If we hype something too much, our expectations of it is going to be extremely high. That'll mean that we'll probably be disappointed when we see it because it didn't live up to our expectations. Hype is a good thing because it spreads the word around but too much hype isn't good at all. Also, hype train

I think hype is a sign of change, or just something new, which makes us get excited about it. However, that new thing needs to be something we want to have in the first place. Since humans don't take stagnation in their lives very well (considering how far we have advanced), having hype pumps us up for this incoming new thing, like say a video game. This of course, goes back to the feeling of expectation, and the disappointment.

We are really gullible, true. But I wouldn't call hype a gullible state- rather, I would call it natural emotion. I don't always think that it is a bad thing either, but not necessarily good for sure. I get hyped a lot too. Same here for the recent Captain America movie. When I was in middle school, I remember watching Avengers for the first time, and it was amazing. However, the recent Marvel movie did not give me that feeling. I think I just grew from then and now- it just felt too childish.

We tend to hope or view things that we really want them to be. So, even if we get disappointed for what we get hype for, we would still get hyped again because of our expectation and hope that it would turn out the way that we want it to be. Or it could be a simple denial that things didn't turned out that we have expected it to be.

In my opinion, I think that most people are hyped on their birthdays or some sort of specific event. Also, if an individual is thinking about a specific topic and if there is a certain think or image that they are thinking of but if its not the exact thing that you were expecting, I think thats when people get disappointed in what they were hyped of. For the birthday and event example, I believe that to a certain extent, people expect something from something at that certain day. Even though they don't expect it from everyone, they do expect that their loved ones will prepare something for them but I would say never get hyped or you'll get hurt by the amount your hyped for.

I believe that people just like to get hyper at things. For me I love Captain America and I was really excited for Civil War just as you were. If you see something that you like, you tend to exaggerate your feelings toward it. You think it'll be so great because it's something you like. However, in reality, just like Civil War, it's just something you enjoy. It wasn't a movie that was so crazy and great that would change the movie history. People like to expect more from what they enjoy.

All people have their own imagination. As a result, people have that hype feeling since they are expecting something more than they expect and more than they imagine. When I like something very much, we all expect it to be more advanced and more entertaining next time. However, since everybody's expectations and perspective on something are all different, it's quite hard for them to like it again. As a result, they get disappointed. But I don't really think it's a bad thing. It sometimes triggers people's imagination or go beyond their capacities which can be a good thing. I also get disappointed easily on everything such as movies, musics and etc. It's very hard to fulfill someone's heart with a movie or music because all their explanation is by some kind of literature that cannot be expressed fully. Therefore, I think the feeling of hype is very normal.

I get hyped? too, for movies. I rarely get disappointed because I'm usually just excited for the movie because certain actor or actress stars in it and I'm just excited to see them. I get hyped for events too but I don't remember being disappointed by it. I don't know why but I rarely get disappointed. Maybe I just don't remember. I think it might be my brain unconsciously making me think that I'm enjoying the movie or the event as much as I was excited for it. Maybe the hype itself is enjoyable for me that I forget about the actual event. Hype is a good thing for me .

Well, I never get hyped for a movie because I know that expectations won't meet my reality. I get hyped for something other things like skydiving or carpool. I believe it will be like those movies that you are chilling with your friends and making memories. Memories make me hyped because you only get one life. For example, many people are excited for prom. Asking a girl/guy out and dancing with her/him. However, if you go alone that's sad and boring. New adventure usually makes us excited like college. College is the place where you can find your homies and chillax. We usually get hyped again because it's a new thing. Like for you, Chanmin, you never saw the movie so you will be like "OMG, THAT MOVIE MUST BE HELLA AWESOME." You never watched the movie so you will be very excited and stoked. But reality hits you then you get disappointed.
