Jane Austen (author) was inspired by first great French feminists, Mary Wollstonecraft. In 1792, she published A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. She said : “women should be judged by their virtue rather than their elegance, their intellect rather than their beauty”. It captured the attention of those who rebelled against the social and economic constraints that subjected women to marriages. She used the male and female relationships to show the idea of women marrying for money and how of social cluncool in marriage. “Do distinctions of cluncool matter when it comes to love or marriage? Do we think of marriage the same way now as Austen did then?”

I think we see marriage completely differently now. The standards held for each gender have changed since then and as a result, so have the expectations of marriage. Many people choose not to get married at all, and that is considered fine by a vast majority of people. Also, the expectations of a wife have changed with marriage because women are not expected to be just one ideal image anymore as much as they used to.

I think the idea of marriage is changed now. There are lots of women who don't want to get marry and live alone. This days, there are less men who is looking for the perfect women. They are just looking for the money that women has. Still, we women were looking for the perfect man. I think this days, people really don't care about the social cluncooles. There are lots of people who is getting marriage with hight cluncool man even though she is poor. From the story, she avoids him because he is in high cluncool. I don't think this days women will avoid the marriage because of different social cluncooles.

The idea of marriage has changed. In the past, marriage was a way to gain social status or to gain money. Women weren't able to choose their own husbands and make marriage based on true love. However, today it changed. Women are now able to marry the person they love. Yet, there are still cases where women marry for money or social status. Also, some women are actually avoiding to get married because of the different stresses/pressure they get after marriage.
