I'm basing my answer on personal opinion, not the contents of an article, but I do think doubt is important to faith, especially in religious perspective. Faith by itself isn't always strong because without a physical basis to their faith, people won't truly abide with the beliefs of their religion. This is where doubt comes in, for coming back to believe after a period of doubt can strengthen the faith to more than it was before.

When people doubt they are unsure of the consequences or results of an issue. Similarly when a person has a fear they look for hope to get away from their troubles. I agree with Annie, that we look to religion when we need hope or faith. Religion provides something for us to believe. Also the old stories of religions, depict God and the Buddha as people greater than normal human beings. So if they make any mistakes, people start to doubt their powers and lose faith. I think we have faith in what we think is more ultimate to us and we doubt it if it lets down our expectations.

We tend to throw away doubt when we have faith in something. If we don't have doubt at all, we wouldn't call it faith but call it knowledge. We know whatever it is, but if we don't know for sure, then we start to doubt things which is why people tend to have faith in something. I also agree with one of the responses talking about faith in religion. Religions are formed by people that have the same beliefs and the same faith in a particular subject of religion such as Christianity, Buddhism, or Muslim. It all depends on the faith of the people. In conclusion, faith cannot exist without doubt

Faith means without a doubt. In my opinion, definite faith means the believe without a doubt. How can one have a faith in a person or idea, when he/she has any doubt in the subject. When we trust one another, we should trust without a doubt. Complete trust will lead us to faith toward one another.

I can refer it back to what we discussed in cluncool about the relation between fear and bravery. As bravery needs fear for it's existence, the same method works out for faith and doubt too. But faith is supposed to be doubtless. That's why it's the core of almost every religion. But then it brings us to the question that why religions restrict us from doubting and questioning. This is a thing that's bothering me for quite a long time but in order to keep my faith on, I really can't do much about it.

I think that faith comes from doubt. I agree with toufiq that faith is the core for almost every religion. People do question and doubt religion. For me, I also did doubt. However, people start to believe in religion after they realize that there is no need to doubt in religion. As a result, people have faith in religion. So faith comes from doubt. Doubt leads us to have complete trust in whatever religion that people has.

Faith is a belief that is mostly related to religion of where. No doubt (no pun intended) if you have very high faith about religion, then there is no doubt about since it all make sense to you to make you have connections and always believe of faith.

I also think doubt is essential to faith. There are people who serve in a religion without doubt because they are almost brainwashed. I don't think that's faith because that's like they are stuck in a world. Faith is when someone examines and chooses to believe what they want to believe. Like Lesley said in the Ted talk, doubt should be appreciated as a step for real faith.

I think faith works when you're dedicated and willing to doubt your beliefs at the same time. Doubt is necessary to sustain our faith in people, religion, community, etc. I don't think it is wrong for people to doubt their religious beliefs because it means that they care and believes that their relationship with God is important. It's natural to questions our beliefs as life regularly presents new challenges. To stay faithful, we just need to pay more attention to it.

In my opinion, faith is a mixture of doubt and firmness. People always ask themselves if their purpose of path is on a right track. For example, in religious perspective, people may ask themselves if this religion is suitable and appropriate for themselves. Faith by itself will not be always strong and sturdy. It is one way of being cautious. However, a strong faith will not have any doubts.
