Now adays people say that the world is better thanks to technology and innovations, making hope of survival, while others think the world is chaotic due to all the conflicts in the world, such as the refugee crisis, global warming, etc. In the poem of what we discussed in cluncool, "Hope" is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson, basically gives out the idea that hope is in our soul of what made us reach here today which it states that it requires a really harsh storm to chip it away.
Now the problem currently is that despair is taking over hearing the news over media, and more global issues rise, seeing how the world is being corrupted, affecting millions of lives in which making them lose their hope of the world coming back to being more peaceful and changing the perspective of the world that is chaotic, making the harsh storm to chip away the hopes of people.
What is the world's current road on ? Things that will be hopeful and work out ? or will it collapse in despair ?
Personally, I think the world is going into despair, with all the current global issues of poverty, refugee crisis in Europe, and can be seen by other people that the news really took a big toll on them that not only changed the way they act, but the way they look of exhaustion and sadness, now I'm not here saying that reality is harsh, which it is, but despite that I'm only hoping that things will turn out to the better, after all there is light at the end of every tunnel.

Things are bad. There are extreme poverty, inequal wealthy distribution, hunger- all the things that lead to despair. On the bright side, however, things are better than ever before. Think back in history. There are more donations to help others than few hundred years ago. The government is better than ever, to be honest, compared to the times when the monarchy or the emperor was in power. There are more ways to counter diseases. And, lastly, if the chaos in Syria took place few hundred years ago, Europe would not have taken a single person in. The point I am trying to make is to try to look at things more positively. Of course, we're far from being perfect. But we are better. And we can count on to be better.

I feel like, the more ability the world has, the more problems it gets. That’s how the universe keeps its balance. There will always be hope and despair, things never stop happening, bad or good. Right now, it might seem like the world is messed up, but that’s how it looks from a screen that feeds us quick and short pieces of information every day. Honestly, people are generally nice, good is always happening, its just that no one thinks they’re important enough to know about.

The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination.” ― Marion Zimmer Bradley, I like this Quote because it give meaning to live and i believes if there is no hope there is no life, and if there is life than will be hard and, It does not matter what I hope will happen. It only matters what I do.
To give up hope is not to give up on the possibility of change. It is to accept that things right now are the way they are.

In my personal opinion, world is on the road of hope. It it true that the more developed world has more problems as what grace said because of the too much developed technology and destroyed environment. However, it is also true that people tend to become more comfortable and able to save time by using well developed technology in their living life. I believe that people will open the better world with new technology and save the encironment and people in despair! So i think this world is on the road of hope

There are many components that lead to despair. As world become globalized and industrialized, there are more social hierarchy which brings poverty and inequality. It is true that more ability for the world to get improved, there will be more problem we are going to face. On the other hand, world has been improved. I think world should be seen as the road of hope. Despite negative consequences, there are more positive sides we should look forward.

I have a really neutral view of this topic. I believe that we are always going to have hope and despair. Throughout some time, it may only seem like there is despair. There might not be a better day. However, there would always be hope as well. That hope would help solve the despair. It's almost like these two have to go together. Whenever there is despair, there will be hope to counteract it.

I think it depends on everyone's perspective because like people always say " Everybody have different ideas and thoughts." Yes, I do agree and in my opinion, I think the world is on the road of despair.. I mean the Earth is. I define world as the mother Earth, Due to the technology and what on, people benefit from it, but it's not beneficial for the Earth. Rich people getting richer, poor getting poorer, that's how the world runs nowadays. And because of unlimited want and limited sources, people are going to kill each other for getting other's properties and then, the industrialization and technology will be more and more developed and eventually, global warming will be more serious. Then, the world will end.

On one hand, the world is taking on the road of despair. Various crisis and issues are occurring these days. There's not one day when there is no bad news on the news channel. It seems that there is no hope in this world. However, on the other hand, there is still hope. Hope is there for those who believe in it and we ought to grasp on to hope no matter what. I agree with Jonah: wherever there is despair, hope counteracts...

The world is messed up and corrupted so it is taking the road of despair. On the news, there are ISIS people doing their stuff and there is refugee trying to escape and some people stealing money. There are many problems going around the world but some people do not care and live their life. However, there is always hope, even though there is no hope. As the saying goes there is always a silver lining in every cloud.

The answer really depends on how you view the world. Yes, the world is getting better due to many new technologies but number of poor people are not decreasing at all. I think that there will be always two different sides where one being good, hope, and the other being the despair.

My opinion of the world's current road is divided: I think there are factors that could contribute to both despair as well as hope. When we hear the tragic stories on the news about shootings and terrorist attacks, we could be compelled to believe that our society is progressing toward its fall. However, thinking of the advancement we have made in all fields of study - science, math, history, technology - it is also possible to say that we have developed for the better. Yes, I agree that there are global problems and corruption issues that have degraded many faiths in humanity. Those in power have exploited their influence to manipulate the general public to their own political advantage. Some countries refuse to house refugees because they're so caught up in their own problems. However, I don't want to forget about the efforts of those individuals whom are striving to unite us as an international family. NGOs and charities are working to change the lives of those whom need help, and we can't forget about them just because others are trying to exploit us as people in society.

I think that this world is going towards despairrrr because when I see the news and the social media whatever, not to be so judgemental its just that world is so corrupted and people are busy trying to make their own lives better makes this world drown in despair. Emily dickinson's poem "hope is the thing with feathers" is such a great motivating poem but, people still tend to lose hope in whatever they do which makes this world depressing and horrific. But hopefully, people can find hope..

Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected. Robert Frank
Hope and despair goes along with each other. Yes the world today looks like we are full of corruption, poverty, chaos, and no rules. In reality, I bellieve the last 30 years was when the world grew the most in HISTORY. We didn't have major wars that killed millions of innocents (go check the death toll for WWI,WWII if you want to argue). Yes, many bad things such as the US barging in to the Middle East to cause the horrific war was and is a problem. 1% owning the 99% is a problem. But lets face it. Was there ever a world where there were no bad things happening? At least today, we have the technology to cure disease that killed thousands years ago.

Hope maybe! I hope so. But there are a lot of thing which will come in the way. Social media is one of them which is really good at driving people towards despair. As we interacting with each other more, it's leaving both positive and negative effect on us.
