Lie - is a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood. We talk this week in cluncool about a lie? so I am curious Guys to see your response. why lie? Have I some question? What is the lie? Is lie always Bad? what does lie mean to you? How did you describe good or bad? what is the truth then? Who can we know the good or bad? what did you think?

Lying can often be easier and kinder than the truth, and anybody who claims they’ve never lied is probably lying right then. But be warned: most people try to convince themselves into believing their own lies. So if you start losing track of those growing untruths, you may distort your entire perception of reality.

It depends on the circumstances but I think that lying is a defense mechanism. But it does more harm to us than to others because we would be living with the guilt. Also, liars have to think through everything they say to a much greater degree in order to avoid being exposed. Like Jin said, it may also distort their perception of reality. Even if they do avoid being caught, the lies will keep piling up and this could make relationships with friends, family members, etc. shallower and just less meaningful. So yes. It's bad for us.

I think it depends on the situation because sometimes its better to do a white lie. Sometime we lose our relationships by telling the truth. I think the trusts are needed before we make the judgement about other people is lying or not.

Agreeing with Lucia, lying truly is a defense mechanism. We lie in order to hide our privacy in order to protect ourselves from being exposed. Additionally, we had a question brought up if hiding was lying. Firstly, my answer was no because I thought if we're hiding, we're just hiding something not lying about anything. Then I came home and changed my mind. Hiding is lying when you apply it to every situation. If you kill someone and not tell anyone, you're still lying because the police and the society will be looking for you. Then, you're going to disguise your self into a non-murderer which is lying. Also, when you're in a relationship with somebody that relationship breaks when either one of them fell in love with another person. But, if you want to keep it as a secret, you're lying to the relationship you're having. False statements are not just lies. These could all be lies as well.

I also agree with jin. Lie is better than truth sometimes. It is ture that lie is not a good thing to do but I think white lies are exception. The reason why I think like this is that some truths can make troubles such as ruining life and more. For example, think of what might be happened when Hamlet did not know the truth of his father's dead. Thus, I do not think lies are always bad and truth is better.

We're all selfish people who care about our own safety instead of others. Lying is a way to avoid getting hurt mentally or physically for the time being. After all, the truth hurts. We don't want to face consequences because we believe it may lead to danger.

We lie because of our own selfish desires. It's just a way to avoid harm to one's self and to achieve satisfaction. We also lie to get pleasure. I found this cool picture from toddspain.wordpress.com/2011/03/21/harsh-truth-vs-loving-lie/. The picture demonstrates that we love lies because we can see what we want to see. Even though the truth is important, I think it is sad that, is in our human nature, we grasp lie.

As Chris said, we all have our selfish desires. In order to fulfill it, we do what we can, and lying is one of them. None of us here can truly say that they have never lied, and that makes your question partly too obvious. A better question might have been why is lying bad, or why are we selfish, because there is no real right answer

Lying is a hard thing to do man!!! When we lie, we hide that lie with another lie and hide that one with another lie and that thing goes forever. Lying is an easier way of honesty. It is easier to tell a lie and just ignore it, and everybody is happy because of that, because nobody got hurt. But telling the truth might hurt somebody's feelings, so we can't really tell that lying is a bad thing. It mostly depends on the situation.

Sometimes we lie to survive if we are in a death threat. However, some people lie to take advantage of others. However, if you lie in the end people will find it out. You got to tell the truth to not ruin your relationship with other people. If you watch, 11/22/60 which is a tv show about stopping JFK uncooluncoolination. This guy from the future had to hide his identity because he needs to blend in but in the end people found out his name is different. So everything kind of fell apart. Lying is not always bad because there are white lies. Lying can be good or bad depends on your heart.

Basically, lying is just a way to avoid any consequences. Used as a defense mechanism for survival, which is all human nature is about. Additionally that we lie because we want to keep our lives going and prevent change, since change can really be a positive outcome, or a chaotic outcome.

It is true that lie is a false statement. People use lies in various reasons, but we can not say lies are always bad because sometimes we want to hide our bad truths. We call this type of lies “white lies.” I believe there are no direct guidance for deciding good lies or bad lies. Although sometimes telling lie is good, I rather want to know a truth.

To me, lying is a way to avoid any bad consequences. Most of lies are bad since they are tricks you use but sometimes its purpose can be good. I think that there are no clear way to determine good and bad because we never know what that lie people committed will affect anyone.

It is true that lying can be necessary but I personally look at lies very negatively. Lying usually has bad consequences, in long term. Also, people who lie a lot can be very not trustable. Everyone lies and I lie too, but I think it is extremely important to be honest.
